We Need More Recreational Facilities, Scenic Spots
With economic development and improved incomes, people spend a much lower percentage of their income on food and drink and more on recreation and tourism. It is essential that the government and private business build more recreational and tourist facilities to meet the needs of the public.
The need for more such facilities is made evident by the fact that in most tourist spots, and places of entertainment and recreational facilities available in Taiwan, the traffic is heavy and the placesare crowded every weekend and holiday. All of us need leisurely activities to refresh bodies and mind tired from hard work.
Such activities are very important especially to young people. These years, many youths took a great interest in internet cafe. The trend developed into a craze which spread in Taiwan. However, the internet cafe, were not in place for youths to relax themselves, and it's often dangerous to play the games and make friends on the Internet. The craze was a vivid reflection of the need among young people for an outlet for their youthful energies.
Many children seek to fulfill their need for recreation by spending time in KTV and video game parlors. These places are usually cramped and stuffy and are bad to the health of the children. And the places are now know as seedbed of juvenile delinquency: brawls and other types of misconduct occur frequently in them. The environment has greatly changed the lifestyles of us. More and more people will find that recreation and tourism an integral part of their lives. So we have to meet these trends.
Authorities concerned with tourism should develop more tourist spots in Tainan county. Some of the townships are still untapped and are good locations for such resorts.
And it is equally important to establish large recreational facilities in Tainan city. One of the benefits this could produce a decreased interest in harmful activities, such as gambling. Such facilities channel people's energies into suitable and constructive activities.
