Marriage

Marriage, according to the English dictionary, means a union of a husband and a wife, but in modern Chinese society, it is more than that—it is a union of the two families. As we know, the two families don’t know each other at first, and now they become a close relative owing to the relationship of marriages. Under such circumstances, they share the happiness and trouble together. While a member of one family gets into trouble, the members of the other family will, without hesitation, help him/her to tackle the difficult problems. Therefore, the marriage, I think, is like a rope which ties the two families together. And that’s to say, before one wants to get married, he/she has got to check the family background of the other to avoid troublesome problems one stirs up. Judging from what mentioned above, marriage is not only a union of a husband and a wife, but also a union of the two families.

Well done! With your English ability, you can expand the paragraph into a complete and longer essay. Using an outline can help you organize your ideas better. You can also use other skills ( e.g. giving examples, describing a process, making comparison) to develop your definition of marriage.

a close relative?

Judging from the above mention, marriage is not only a union of a husband and a wife, but also a union of the two families.
-->...from what mentioned above...
-->this sentence is already used one in the beginning your paragraph. Try to express the idea in a different way!
